Terms of Use
Effective 12 October 2026
These terms apply to the ForkTeller app and this website, provided by JoCoding, Inc. (“we”). By using ForkTeller you agree to them. If you downloaded the app from the App Store, Apple's Standard EULA also applies; if from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service apply as well.
1. What ForkTeller does
ForkTeller reads a Seoul subway platform sign from a photo and suggests which way to go, along with a route, timetable and fast-exit door information. It is a guide, not an official source. Signs, timetables and services change, and readings can be wrong: always check the signs and announcements at the station. Station, timetable and exit data come from the Seoul Open Data Plaza and data.go.kr under the Korea Open Government License (KOGL) Type 1.
2. Free use, ads and ForkTeller Lifetime
- ForkTeller includes a number of free sign scans per day. Other features, such as picking stations, the route, the map, the timetable and fast-exit doors, are free.
- You can choose to watch a rewarded ad to get an extra scan.
- ForkTeller Lifetime is a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase. It removes the daily limit and the ads on the store account that bought it, for as long as the app is offered. It is not a subscription and does not renew.
- Payment is handled by Apple or Google. Refunds are requested from and decided by Apple or Google under their policies (Apple: reportaproblem.apple.com; Google Play: the order history in your Google account). This does not limit any rights you have under consumer law.
- On a new phone, use Settings → Restore purchases with the same store account.
3. Acceptable use
Don't misuse ForkTeller: don't try to break, reverse-engineer or overload the app or our servers, bypass the free-scan limit or the purchase check, or send feedback that is unlawful or abusive. Pay attention to your surroundings and don't use the app in a way that puts you or others at risk on platforms or stairs.
4. Your content
Photos you take are processed on your phone and are not sent to us. If you send feedback, you let us use it to reply and to improve ForkTeller. See the Privacy Policy.
5. Ownership
The app, its design and Forky the mascot belong to JoCoding, Inc. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app on devices you own or control. Public data remains subject to KOGL Type 1; the Nunito font is used under the SIL Open Font License.
6. Third-party services
Ads, analytics, purchase verification and payments are provided by third parties (Google, Meta, PostHog, RevenueCat, Apple). Their terms and privacy policies apply to their services.
7. Disclaimer and liability
ForkTeller is provided “as is”. To the extent permitted by law, we do not guarantee that it is error-free or always available, or that directions, timetables or door positions are accurate, and we are not liable for indirect losses such as a missed train or connection. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including for our intentional misconduct or gross negligence.
8. Changes and ending
We may update the app or these terms. We will post the new terms here with a new effective date. You can stop using ForkTeller at any time by deleting it.
9. Law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, without depriving you of mandatory protections of the law where you live. Questions: highball@jocoding.net.
